About Barbara Pecarich

Barbara Pecarich grew up in New Mexico where as a child she spent much of her time in the presence of injured wild animals brought to her by the forest service to be a caretaker and nurturer to their wounds, healing them back to being released into the wild. Having developed a profound empathic nature and deep love for our innerconnectedness to nature, she followed a path of healing that led her from professional dancer to collaborator, and advisor in films that conveyed that concern and love for the natural world. (Assistant to the Director on the film Koyaanisquatsi / Godfrey Reggio, Director / Philip Glass/soundtrack ) and The Canadian Film Board Trilogy Goddess Remembered, Full Circle, The Burning Times (as Dancer and Production assistant / Director, Donna Read).

Although the modality of her work progressed and changed over the years, the common thread through all was healing and her deep love for the earth and peoples’ connection to it.

Walking the initiatory path of the healer, her purpose often found her, rather than choosing to follow a certain career path. In 1982 when her mother was diagnosed with cancer, she committed full-time to learning from healers and about different healing modalities, diving deep into the substratum of illness and regeneration, death, dying and beyond. This began an active seeking in her to understand consciousness, who are we and what is our capacity for healing and transformation. This led her immersion into the world of yoga, Vedanta and the paths of the mystics whom have charted out through the science of yoga the practice of meditation, sound and expanded states of awareness.

In 1986 she was hired to perform the sacred dances for the Canadian Film Board film, Women and Spirituality.  While flying to Greece to perform the dances in Delphi and in the caves in Crete, her plane was bombed at 18,000 feet up in the air. That was the enlightening moment of 'This is it. It's over.' That moment for some who have experienced near-death experiences describe as the profound dissolution of self, the stripping away, and all that remains is…love. There is only love. This feeling of love permeates every cell in one's body, and is the only thought in the mind which transcends time and space. “Know Thy Self”.

Seeking to heal and understand more deeply what is beneath this personal story, Barbara trained with Mark Wolynn (author of It Didn't Start with You) in Family Constellations, the cycles of inherited family trauma and how to end the cycles.

She did in-house training with Stan Groff, utilizing holotropic breathwork to heal trauma and to understand more about altered states of consciousness.

She completed the NAMI Training (Family to Family) to better understand mental illness and possible pathways leading out of it. That is when she first encountered Dr. Gabor Mate's work with addiction and mental illness, and his profound approach of asking “What happened to you?” rather than “What’s wrong with you?”

Her travels took her to India, Ireland and Spain where she continued to expand her direct understanding of healing and consciousness. After four years of intensive meditation practice in The Self-Realization School of The Golden Ray, she was initiated as a Mystic Therapist. Today she continues to practice Mystic Therapy in group and individual sessions, online with zoom and over the phone. Her work has evolved over the past 25 years as an integration of intuitive counseling, channeling the light as an initiated Mystic Therapist and gently allowing the inherent capacity of the self to reclaim those parts of oneself that somewhere in time, through shock or trauma, rejection or abandonment, were left behind, and have only been waiting to be brought forward to rejoin and become part of our inner family, and to reinstill that true sense of belonging through validation and acceptance: love.

In the words of modern day mystic Tomas Hubl,

“The trauma that I experienced is not blocking my way, it is also my way. It takes what it takes to deal with the wounds I’ve got, and that’s an act of love.”
